A son of triple G1 winner Oratorio stood out on the early session on Friday, on the final day of the 2017 National Yearling Sale.

Consigned by Wilgerbosdrift, the unnamed bay was knocked down to William Moccata for R2.2 million and is currently the top lot sold this session and the fourth top lot sold at this year's National Sale.

The Oratorio colt is out of former G1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner Emerald Beauty, whose four previous winners include SA Nursery fourth Right Beauty and six time winner Emerald Approach. This is the world famous E family responsible for champions around the globe, including local stars and G1 winners Empress Club, Ecurie, Elusive Fort and recent Listed Sledgehammer winner Elusive Silva.

Oratorio has made a pleasing start with his first South African born two-year-olds this season including the feature race winner Arianos Bagofgold and Wednesday's winner Swift Dancer.

The former European champion's 40 plus stakes winners worldwide include the champions Banchee, Beethoven and Hong Kong star Military Attack.

The sale continues through the afternoon and a full list of prices and results will be available shortly after the sale concludes.
