Mauritzfontein have reported that star chestnut Gr1 winning mare, Nother Russia, has foaled a Querari filly.
Purchased by Jehan Malherbe on behalf of Mauritzfontein, for R550 000 off the 2014 National Yearling Sale from Wilgerbosdrift, the chestnut daughter of Mother Russia by Tiger Ridge went on to win 8 races including the Gr1 Empress Club Stakes twice, and taking the Gr2 Ipi Tombe Challenge.
She placed in four more Gr1’s around the country, with Mauritzfontein & Wilgerbosdrift sponsored Craig Zackey in the irons for all of her 18 starts.
Her dam Mother Russia was Equus Champion Older Filly/Mare in 2010, with 13 wins including four Gr1 wins. This is the family of Winter Solstice and Bravura.
Jessica Jell of Mauritzfontein reports, “she is being totally spoiled and Nother Russia is currently booked to visit Silvano this season. Her foal is very sweet and friendly and ‘Nother’ is very chilled about it all!”
Current national Champion Breeders Mauritzfontein & Wilgerbosdrift are already on fire, with 39 wins early in the season and over R3,7-million in stakes earned to date.
