Lady Of Steel Maintains Unbeaten Record 5 From 5

Classy three-year-old filly Lady Of Steel, a R700 000 buy from the 2018 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, made it win number five from as many starts when romping home to an impressive win at the Vaal on Tuesday.

An eye-catching winner of the G3 Racing It’s A Rush Acacia Handicap at her penultimate start, Lady Of Steel maintained her unbeaten record with a fluent win, over some high-class male rivals, in an allowance plate over 1450m.

The Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained filly, under jockey Chase Maujean, defied 60kgs when storming home from off the pace to win, going away, by three-parts of a length, and she looks destined for the top.

Bred by the Lammerskraal Stud, and owned by Mr and Mrs Breitenbach, Lady Of Steel was the second top sold at the 2018 National 2YO Sale, which was hardly surprising given her stellar pedigree.

Not only is Lady Of Steel a daughter of Varsfontein Stud’s star stallion Gimmethegreenlight, she is out of the Western Winter sired G1 Empress Club Stakes winner Fair Maiden, herself a full-sister to G2 winner Braggadaccio and to East Cape Guineas hero Azeroth.

Lady Of Steel’s G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winning sire Gimmethegreenlight has 40 lots on offer at the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, with his draft including yearlings out of such high-class racemares as Bedloe’s Island, Close The Gap, Imperious Star, Justthewayyouare, Little Genie, Polyphonic, Royal Fantasy, She’s On Fire and Townsend, to name but a few!
