Klawervlei sire Royal Mo got off the mark with the smart Royal Aussie winning for Justin Snaith and owners Dane Squance, Suzette Viljoen and Jill Warner.
The juvenile colt has been knocking on the door, with two previous seconds over 1200m before winning over 1400m.
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the aptly named Royal Aussie is out of Australian mare Abelia by Smart Missile, from the female line of Time For War, Lucky Owners and multiple Gr1 winner Mosheen.
Royal Mo is the only son of outstanding sire Uncle Mo at stud in South Africa.
Royal Mo won the Gr3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes before finishing third in the Gr1 Santa Anita Derby.
He shares his sire Uncle Mo with a host of top-class horses including Kentucky Derby winning champion, and successful sire Nyquist and this season’s top-class US three-year-olds Mo Donegal and Adare Manor.
Royal Mo, whose son Mo Jive was beaten less than a length when third on debut also owned by Suzette Viljoen.
