HONG KONG SUCCESS FOR BSA GRADUATE

Mr Valiant became yet the latest Bloodstock South Africa sold thoroughbred to win in Hong Kong when he won at Happy Valley on Sunday.

Dropped out early by Brenton Avdulla, Mr Valiant worked his way through traffic, before powering home down the inside rail and getting up to land Sunday’s Foshan Handicap by a neck.

“He did a good job. He had nice form and he gave me plenty of confidence going to the gates and everything worked out really well,” Avdulla said after the win.

Bred by Dr Veronique Kritzinger, the David Hall trained Mr Valiant, who won twice from just four starts in South Africa when racing under the name of Invincabelle, was claiming his first success in Hong Kong when victorious on Sunday.

The gelding, consigned to the sale by Winterbach Stud (As Agent), was a R450 000 buy from the 2019 National Yearling Sale when knocked down to World Wide Bloodstock.

Mr Valiant is a son of Maine Chance Farms’ inform stallion Querari, also sire of Sunday’s G3 Cape Classic winner Questioning, and the Var mare Varsity Belle. The latter, herself a three time winner up to 1600m, also ranks as the dam of G3 Protea Stakes runner up Laurent Du Var.

Querari has six lots on offer at the upcoming November Two Year Old Sale, including a colt (Lot 33) from the family of Sunday’s G3 Cape Classic runner up Snow Pilot, and a filly (Lot120) from the same female line as leading sires Encosta De Lago, Flying Spur and Holy Roman Emperor.
