Klawervlei Stud-bred Back In Business gave his sire William Longsword another stakes winner, when taking the Gr2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge under a terrific ride from Rachel Venniker, at Turffontein this afternoon. The gelding out of Enchanting Cathy by Var won his sixth race, and his third career win in a row. Trained by Joe Soma for owners ANOA (Pty) Ltd (Nom: Andria Dannhauser), the gelding was a R325 000 yearling graduate off the 2021 National Yearling Sale.
This is the female line of Harry’s Charm, National Currency and Siren’s Call.
William Longsword’s family has been back in the pedigree news, as his half-sister, Real Princess, has produced another exciting sort in the shape of Gimme’s Countess, a full sister to Gr1 winner Gimme A Prince. She won last weekends Gr3 Baker & Mcveigh Diana Stakes under Serino Moodley and puts her hand up as a serious prospect for the Cape Season.
Back In Business is Merit Rated 106 (prior to his race win) and his half sister by What A Winter named Ice Angel, owned by Michael Roberts, has foaled to Chimichuri Run at Blue Sky Thoroughbreds.
His dam Enchanting Cathy, by Var, has returned to What A Winter to be covered for the 2024 season.
Celtic Rumours (Vercingetorix – Sylvie) added more Black Type to a good female line for breeder Mr Peter De Beyer, winning the Gr2 Betway Joburg Spring Challenge for fillies and mares, owned by Messrs J F & L M F Wernars & G K Harvett and trained by Sean Tarry.
She is a half sister to Almond Sea and Sarah, and won for the fifth time this afternoon over 1450m.
This is the female line of recent export Gimme A Nother, Winter Solstice and Bravura to mention a few. Ridden by Gavin Lerena, Celtic Rumours is out of a Dupont mare and her Captain Of All half sister sold off the 2024 Nationals for R550 000 to Kestorm Investments.
Well done to all concerned.
