Hollywood Syndicate’s Isivunguvungu bred by John and Renee Everett’s Narrow Creek Stud, has settled into the stables at Del Mar under the care of Graham Motion.
The What A Winter gelding with his unique Zulu name and American debut win is attracting a lot of attention in the USA leading up to the Breeders Cup.
Hollywood Syndicate have posted a video in the lead up to his race on Saturday, the Breeders Turf Sprint where he has drawn 10th and will be ridden by Manuel Franco.
Former Springbok and Sharks rugby player Odwa Ndungane and his wife Kgomotso, who named Isivunguvungu (meaning storm) will be making the lengthy journey and visiting Isivunguvungu on Thursday along with his previous trainer, Peter Muscutt, ahead of his tilt at the Breeders Cup.
Devin Heffer of the Hollywood Syndicate said that Odwa “named the horse for when he took to the pitch, he took to it like a storm – a force that left destruction behind him – and that’s why he attributed this name to the horse.”
It is also going to be a dream come true for the Heffer family, who have been attending the Breeders Cup every year since 1997.
We look forward to Saturday!
