One Stripe Wins Gr1 Cape Guineas

Drakenstein Stud’s top-class young stallion One World’s outstanding run of form continued on Saturday. One World had a pair of eye-catching winners at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth, headed by his son One Stripe’s fluent win in the G1 Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas.

In landing the Cape Guineas, One Stripe made amends for his sire’s Cape Guineas defeat, with One World finishing third in the 2018 G1 Cape Guineas.

One Stripe, an impressive G2 Cape Punters Cup winner, picked up his first G1 win and became One World’s first G1 winner with his sparkling Guineas victory. He was one of two runners in the 2024 Cape Guineas for his sensational young sire.
Under a great ride by Gavin Lerena, the Vaughan Marshall-trained colt came with a storming run down the outside of the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth track and powered away to win convincingly by a length and a quarter.
His Guineas triumph provided One Stripe with his fourth graded victory.

Bred by Drakenstein Stud (who bred the first three home in Saturday’s Hollywoodbets Cape Guineas), One Stripe has won five of seven starts and has already earned R2,380,512.

The top-class colt, who is out of the Silvano mare Silver Stripe, is a dual sales graduate, having sold at the August 2YO Sale for R100 000 and a few months later, the R1 400 000 sales topper at the 2023 Ready To Run & Unbroken Two Year Old Sale.

His G1 Sun Met winning sire One World is also responsible for Kaiboy, who caught the eye with a stylish victory at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday. The Candice Bass-Robinson trained three-year-old made it two wins from his last three starts when romping home to claim Saturday’s Stitch Class 3 (1200m) by a deceptively easy three-parts of a length.

Runner-up, to fellow One World son Lion Rampart, in the Listed World Sports Betting Sophomore Sprint, Kaiboy was ridden to victory by Aldo Domeyer.

Like his sire, Kaiboy was bred by Klawervlei Stud. He has three of seven starts, and he looks to have a bright future ahead of him.

His outstanding young sire One World, whose first-crop runners also include recent G3 Betway Fillies Mile winner World Of Alice, has also made a pleasing start with his second crop.
