Carry On Alice Filly Sells For $900 000 At Magic Millions

Not for the first time, Sean Tarry’s former star charge, Carry On Alice, made waves at a major Australian sale. The champion daughter of Captain Al had a filly (Lot 248) by The Autumn Sun, make AUS$900 000 at this week’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale.

Consigned to the sale by Arrowfield Stud, the bay filly was sold to Michael Hickmott Bloodstock on Wednesday.

In past years, Carry On Alice had yearlings make up to AUS $1,100,000 when her Snitzel colt made that amount at the 2023 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Carry On Alice, one of more than 100 stakes winners sired by multiple champion South African sire Captain Al, was an exceptional racemare who won G1 races at 2, 3, 4, and 5.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the durable bay captured the G1 SA Nursery at two, the G1 South African Fillies Sprint the following season, the G1 Computaform Sprint at four, and both the G1 Betting World Cape Flying Championship and G1 South African Fillies Sprint at five.

Carry On Alice, who earned more than R4.586 million during her career, won 11 and placed a further 13 times of her 29 outings and was South Africa’s Champion Sprinter and Older Female of 2016-2017.

The mare has already had two winners, including the stakes-placed Snitzel colt Manos.
